Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started
Q: I'm completely new to BJJ. Can I still join?
A: Absolutely! We love welcoming newbies to the mat. Our classes are designed to accommodate all skill levels, so you'll fit right in. Plus, we offer a 3-day trial so you can dip your toes (or your whole body) into the world of BJJ before committing.
Q: Do I need to be in great shape to start?
A: Not at all! BJJ is for everyone, regardless of your current fitness level. Our classes will help you get in shape while you learn. Think of it as killing two birds with one armbar!

Classes and Programs
Q: What's the difference between Discovery and Mastery classes?
A: Discovery Classes are designed to establish a strong foundation by playing task-based games that teach the fundamentals and promote self-discovery. It's all about having fun while learning the basics! Mastery Classes provide step-by-step instruction on strategy and execution using techniques tried and tested in high-level competition. It's the perfect setting for those looking to refine their skills and elevate their game.
Q: What's the difference between your adult and kids' programs?
A: Our adult programs are like a spicy burrito – packed with high-intensity fitness and competition techniques. The kids' programs, on the other hand, are more like a fun-filled piñata of drills focusing on coordination, discipline, and of course, having a blast!
Q: I heard you have a competition team. How do I join?
A: Ah, you've got the competitive itch! Once you've mastered the basics and shown dedication in regular classes, you can express your interest to Coach Luis. He'll assess your skills and determine if you're ready to join our squad of mat warriors.
Gear and Attire
Q: What should I wear to my first NoGi class?
A: Think comfortable and form-fitting. A rash guard or tight-fitting t-shirt paired with board shorts or grappling spats is perfect. And don't forget to bring a water bottle – you'll need it after all the fun!
Q: Do I need to buy any special equipment?
A: For NoGi classes, you don't need a traditional gi. However, investing in a good quality rash guard and grappling shorts will make your training more comfortable. We also recommend a mouthguard – your teeth will thank you later!
Membership and Pricing
Q: Is there a contract or can I pay month-to-month?
A: We offer a one-year commitment to ensure you get the most out of your BJJ journey. However, we understand that life happens, so if you need to cancel, you can do so with at least 30 days' notice. Our goal is to keep you rolling on the mat, not tied down off it!
Facility and Policies
Q: What are your gym hours?
A: We're open Monday-Friday from 7am-2pm and 4pm-9pm, Saturday 9am-3pm, and Sunday 10am-2pm. Plenty of time to get your grapple on!
Q: How often should I train?
A: It depends on your goals and schedule, but we recommend at least 2-3 times a week to see consistent progress. But remember, BJJ is addictive – you might find yourself wanting to be here every day!
